میں اس کو یاد کروں بھی تو یاد آتا نہیں
میں اس کو بھول گیا ھوں یہی سزا تھی مری

شکست دے گیا اپنا غرور ھی اس کو
وگرنہ اس کے مقابل بساط کیا تھی مری

کہیں دماغ کہیں دل کہیں بدن ھی بدن
ہر اک سے دوستی یاری جدا جدا تھی مری

کوئی بھی کوئے محبت سے پھر نہیں گزرا
تو شہر عشق میں کیا آخری صدا تھی مری

جو اب گھمنڈ سے سر کو اٹھائے پھرتا ھے
اسی طرح کی تو مخلوق خاک پا تھی مری

ہر اک شعر نہ تھا درخور قصیدہ دوست
اور اس سے طبع رواں خوب آشنا تھی مری

میں اسکو دیکھتا رہتا تھا حیرتوں سے فراز
یہ زندگی سے تعارف کی ابتدا تھی مری
